Areas of Practice
Hugues Duguay specializes in insurance litigation. His practice is focused on insurance coverage analysis, civil liability, product liability and professional liability. He regularly appears before all levels of Quebec courts and has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution.
He has developed considerable expertise in the interpretation of insurance contracts, notably CGL policies, E&O and D&O policies, and Builders Risk and Wrap-Up insurance policies. His clients appreciate that his opinions and recommendations are to the point and solution-oriented.
Me Duguay is an experienced defense and coverage litigator. He has led a number of major litigation cases, including the Trois-Rivières “pyrrhotite case”, where he represented a concrete manufacturer in one of the most important civil trials in the history of Quebec.
Me Duguay has been recognized by The Best Lawyers® in Insurance Law since 2021 and as a Benchmark “Litigation Star” in Insurance Law since 2019.
Before he was sworn in as a lawyer, Mr. Duguay worked as a law clerk for the Honourable Justice Donna McGillis of the Federal Court, Trial Division in Ottawa.
