The practice of Laurence Gauthier is focused on professional liability, civil liability, insurance, latent defects and construction. Her practice is divided between litigation and insurance coverage analysis.
For several years, Laurence has defended various professionals such as attorneys, notaries and accountants against allegations of professional liability, which has allowed her to gain experience in complexe litigation and legal issues in a myriad of contexts.
Me Gauthier is also regularly mandated by insurers to provide coverage opinions with respect, notably, to commercial general liability policies, errors and omissions coverage and specialized insurance products.

She has represented insurers to defend their position on coverage, notably in the context of Wellington Applications.
Me Gauthier represented a product supplier in a case raising issues of construction law, course of construction coverage, third party pleadings and in solidum liability, and complexe evidence issues.
She has assisted in the defense of a concrete manufacturer in the pyrrhotite case, discussing latent defects issues, in a litigation of unprecedented scope in Quebec judicial history.
She has represented design engineers as participants in public hearings of the Commission of Inquiry into the collapse of a portion of the De la Concorde overpass.
Me Gauthier is committed to the development of professional knowledge, both as an author and lecturer. She is the author of the following articles published by the continuing education service of the Barreau du Québec:

Although she has gained most of her experience through private practice, Me Gauthier also worked as in-house lawyer at a major Canadian insurance company. This experience has helped her gain a practical understanding of the insurance industry; an asset in her everyday practice.
